Crop Corner – John Welsh to Retire August 2016
August 02, 2016
The end of an era approaches at Clark Agri Service as the long-term veteran, John Welsh, has announced his retirement. John has been with Clark since 2003 when the Smithville fertilizer dealer, Skyway Fertilizer, was bought out. With over 40 years of experience, John has seen many parts of the agriculture industry, from the feed mill back when he was a teenager to driving the fertilizer truck on his daily route. Over the last several weeks, I have had the opportunity to drive around the countryside with John and I have come to realize how strong of a relationship he has with the farming community. John’s hard work and dedication have enabled him to build these lasting relationships. As he retires from the world of agriculture, John leaves big shoes to fill here at Clark Agri Service.
These shoes are now mine to fill as I take over John’s position as a Sales Agronomist at Clark Agri Service. I am a local from Wellandport where I have lived for the majority of my life. I was raised on my family’s dairy farm and in 2015 I graduated from the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus with a diploma in agriculture.
Over the past year at Clark Agri Service, I have gained knowledge in scouting, airflow application and neonicotinoid paperwork. There was never a shortage of new things to learn. In the future, I hope with a lot of dedication, hard work and loyalty, I too will be able to mimic the legacy John leaves behind.
